Self Employed? Be Prepared Friday morning, 13 January 2006
I recently had a great time at macworld except for one thing. I was completely unprepared. I had been in for about ten minutes when the company I was with was approached by a reporter from the San Francisco Chronicle. We talked to her for a bit with our impressions and opinions, I opened my wallet to give her a card to find I had handed out my last one to someone else while we were waiting in line to get in.
So while my hundred plus business cards sat at home, Doug got quoted in the SF Chornicle.
Some of my best gigs have come about at chance as it were, just by saying something to the right person at the right time. If you’re self-employed then you be constantly marketing yourself, however much you hate the idea of that. First step? Always have your card handy.
Status Update
I’ll updating my DNS tomorrow so the site may go down for a bit and e-mail may get lost. My website is set-up and running on my other server so it should all work as soon as the DNS changes have propagated.
