Another year down sees me half way through my degree *phew*, engaged for 18 months *pheew*, and still free-lancing. This year wasn’t quite as fast as the last, but still not bad. To summarise.
- Stayed engaged to my beautiful fiancé for another year.
- Switched to Mac.
- Went to the top of the Golden Gate bridge.
- Started free-lancing full time.
- Picked up some command line including a few things like ssh, mysql, crontab and lighttpd.
- Ruby on Rails... well, i’m getting there!
- Got into DOM scripting.
So what are my challenges to myself for the new year? I’ve got a few.
- Do the McCheyne Bible reading plan so I read the Old Testament once and the New Testament (and Psalms) twice over the year.
Maybe this configurable RSS feed will help. - See a few places in Eastern Europe. So far Budapest is on my list.
- Launch my own web app (more on this later).
- Absorb myself in the ‘getting things done’ method of organisation.
- Learn the Appassionata Sonata by memory
- Not so much resolutions but this coming year i’d like to get into: Ruby on Rails, ActionScript 3.0 and some more software architecture.
- Get second or first grades on my three Open University courses (Software Engineering, Relational Databases and Putting Computer Systems to Work, which sounds like some windows scripting course *shudders*)
Not bad for someone that doesn’t usually make resolutions. I hope your New Year is a successful one for you also, whatever you endeavour.
