Tim O’Reilly has written a fantastic article on the computer book market and trends therein. The info is based on quarterly book sales. One of the most astonishing figures was for ‘Ruby’ which was up 733%, pretty much wiping the floor in terms of fastest growing language right now.

Yeah, but as a foreign language Ruby is growing faster... well maybe, i'm not sure. Certainly easier for anyone with a modicum of programming experience to understand.
